Distance Education Delivery - Constraints in Developing Countries

The Education sector in most developing countries is the most neglected sector, which ought to be the sector with the lion share of the budget. The reason for this anomaly is more political than technical as most of the leadership in these countries devoted more fund to perpetuate themselves in power than development of the economy.

Principally, most developing countries devote less than 20% of the national budget to education which is the minimum recommended by UNESCO.

Most developing countries whose economies are developing fast that have left that category like Singapore, South Korea, devoted much to education and human resources development.   The advent of the internet and the information age has help much to the delivery and cost effective access to the education contents from the fundamentals to the highest emblems of education you literally source for any education contents on the information superhighway. The resources and human capacity development requirements for developing the work force for a developed economy can be found on the internet. It s no wonder then than most developed economies have most of their tertiary education enrollment online - online education in most advance economies have their more than 40% of their tertiary education online.
They leverage on the internet and distance learning technologies to deliver quality education contents for most of their populace especially the working force. The economy becomes more fluid and mobile as the working force have access to education and retraining without necessary taking leave of their work.
The purpose of distance learning anyway, is o remove the distance barrier from the access of education. However in this age, it is removing the barrier to both space and cost,.

It is known that online education reduce the cost to access more than half.

The readily and noticeably constraint in developing countries are in the border of the following Inadequate access to education opportunities, such inability to exploit the leverage and opportunities to human capacity development distance and online education afford economies in this information age.
Lack of trained education workforce in education for development in the 21st century especially in online and distance education in this information age Poor funding, especially on Primary, Intermediate and Tertiary Education, Teacher emoluments, Training and Re-training, Pedagogical and Instructional materials, Basic Educational infrastructural facilities conditions, Educational technology system Institutional autonomy Poor quality assurance mechanisms and inadequate maintenance system to sustains the self preservation of national education policies and plans.
One main readily observing and dynamic aspect of education in this information age is the use of digital technologies for learning. These have evolved over the decades from adjoining electronic, information, communication and telecommunication technologies that have made online and distance education today a veritable tool for developing human resources both on the short and long term.
Adopting these technologies which are very cost effective than the traditional mode of education will help these developing countries to leap frog and advance their economies.

Many Benefits to Studying Online

The decision about one's career can be overwhelming.

The choices of occupations and options in these times are many. There are plenty of considerations including; study duration, costs of courses, attendance of classes, working and studying simultaneously, qualification credibility, the need for those in the occupation, and so forth.

There is so much to consider.
Studying online provides a modern solution to these issues.

Online study provides many benefits.

Firstly, you don't need to choose between full-time study or an income.
For many the current tough economic times make this an impossible choice, as loss of income would be very damaging.
This is this very issue that often prevents some people from even attempting to achieve their desired qualifications.
When you study online, you do so at your own speed.

You only need a computer and an Internet connection, which means there's no need to attend any classes.

There are other benefits such as saving costs on transport to and from campus, and there's no need for families to sacrifice money for residence, petrol or food costs. There is no doubt that when you are newly qualified and apply for a job, it always helps to have the big 'E': Experience. Experience is the key when applying for jobs in any professional field. Experience is what counts - the qualification or certification is only a foundation upon which one builds one's career.

The problem with studying full-time through a campus, is that one battles to find the time to gain this experience. With online study, you cut out daily travelling and are able to structure your day to include either, paid employment in your field (even experience at the very bottom can be the 'cherry on top' on your resume in the eyes of that future employer), volunteer work or apprenticeship.

Competition for jobs these days is tough.

Studying online gives one the time and opportunity to gain the big 'E'. Remember also that the difference between an 'ordinary' resume and an 'extraordinary' resume, is just that little bit 'extra'! This is where your working experience comes in and online study allows you to achieve this in an 'all-in-one' timeframe. There are those of us who, a 'little older' than our high school graduate counterparts, would prefer not to attend classes.

Online study is the answer to this.

One is able to avoid the hustle and bustle of student campus life, and simultaneously continue with one's career whilst gaining dream certifications.
Whether you are a student who needs to gain working experience whilst studying, or a mother who needs time to be with the kids, online study can be the answer for achieving your career goals.

Know a Foreign Language? Become an Online Tutor

If you know a foreign language more options are available for finding a job, not just online but any type of job.

But that doesn't have to be just the knowledge of a foreign language, if you are good in math, or physics or astronomy you can create a stream of income using that knowledge online. There are plenty of websites that offer online tutoring services, most of them are for language tutoring but some of them are expanding offering everything from math to chemistry.

So what is this all about, how can you earn money there? Well these websites are like freelancing websites, but they are only focused on offering tutoring.

What these websites do is that they connect a person in need of tutoring with a tutor.
So what you need to do is go to one of the many websites that offer online tutoring like MyPLT, Wyzant or word2word and create an online profile.
You need to note your special skills, your experience and how you can contribute to a person.

After all, you are not applying to do an easy job, you are applying to be a tutor, you will teach someone how to speak a foreign language or how to solve a math problem, so you have to know how to handle that. Being a tutor requires more than just knowing a language, I mean I can speak 4 languages, but I simply can't teach someone else how to speak them. That is the difference between most people like me who know certain things, and people like online tutors who can pass that knowledge onto someone. So if you think you can do that you will have your chance soon enough.
There are plenty of people in need of a tutor and you will be contacted soon enough to offer your services, which is when you will know for sure if you are made for this type of job or not.

If your first tutoring lesson goes well you can create your online portfolio, offer your services on several of these websites and gradually increase your price per lesson until you get the income you always wanted. It's like building any other business you can imagine, it takes time and patience and it takes a solid amount of returning customers.
But in this type of business that is not hard to achieve at all, if you have what to take to teach someone.

Fall Scavenger Hunt Ideas

Are you looking for something different to do this fall? Sure, we still have to get past summer, but why not start thinking of ideas to put in your planner for autumn? Here's a couple fall scavenger hunt ideas that we do around our house that you may like! The first obvious one concerns leave, of course.
When we think of fall, we think of leaves.
Well, how about coming up with a list that makes you search out all different kinds of colors with those leaves? For instance, you could have the kids get as many orange and red leaves as they can (handfuls!). They're out there, and depending on where you live, it shouldn't be a problem rounding up a bunch of these. And what do you do with them once you've gathered them all? The kids get to jump in them, of course! Another fall scavenger hunt idea is to search out vegetables that are being harvested this time of year.
Two that come to mind are pumpkins and corn. If you live in the Midwest, there's plenty of both of these to go around.
Just make sure you either live on a farm and have your own crops! Or you can ask your neighbors if they mind if you pick some.

Great fun! Then Halloween comes around, and there's plenty of scavenger hunt ideas to go around during this holiday. One more quick idea: Fall is when the kids start going back to school, right? Well, for us parents, that means a lot of school shopping, especially if you have more than one child. The kids can help find what they need in the store, especially if they're old enough to read.
Make a game of the shopping by turning it into a scavenger hunt. See who can be the first one finished with the list! Make You Own Scavenger Hunts!

Little Girls and Playing House - Use it to Teach Her Healthy Habits

All little girls like to play "house!" That is all of them except the one in the song "I don't want to play house; it makes my mommy cry!" But, that is something completely different, not so? That is why all little girls need a Kidkraft Retro Kitchen and Refrigerator in pink.
So, under normal circumstances little girls enjoy playing house. Playing house includes cooking.
Make sure your little girl has pots and pans, a play stove and fridge if possible and even a play washbasin. To all this you have to add play food. It is amazing what a wide range of play food you can get these days.
You even get those that you can "peel" and "cut!" I have to admit though, for some unknown reason, my granddaughter always prefer the "hamburger and chips" and the "pizza!" Well, I think even this is a time we can use to bring in the idea of healthy eating. Make sure she has play food of all kinds of healthy veggies and fruit.
Play with her and draw her attention to all the tasty meals you can make with these veggies and fruit.

You can also instill healthy food preparation methods by showing her how she can "steam" and "grill" the food.

By using her play "fridge" you can teach her how to store fresh produce safely and the correct way of storing leftovers.
I know it sounds like work, but with a little imagination and good toys she will learn all this without even knowing it. Play with her and let it all come natural in the line of play. It stands to reason that the play kitchen you use has to be strong and it has to be big enough for more than one to play in at a time. You will not succeed in teaching her all this while playing if you have only a tiny little hole she has to play in! So, go and have a look at the Kidkraft Retro Kitchen and Refrigerator in pink for hours of educational fun with your little girl.

Internet Of Things (IoT): Personal And Home Use Application

Just Imagine, if you can monitor and control your garage door remotely on your phone, thus ensuring yourself peace of mind or imagine you can set your home thermostat 10 minutes before you reach home or your washing machine can give you a text message, when your clothes are washed and ready to be placed in the dryer.
Internet of things applications has made all this imagination into reality.

The Internet of Things has become a buzzword in recent years. The term "Internet of Things" was first coined by Kevin Ashton in 1999 to describe a system where a computer is able to collect the data from physical world via sensors without any human intervention.

Today IoT is referred in terms of providing internet connectivity to physical devices enabling us to monitor and control them.

This article focuses on how IoT can benefit in personal and home use.

In Internet of Things paradigm, devices with sensors are connected to the internet. These devices need not have in-built Wi-Fi support to connect to a wireless router as you would expect for a smart phone or a tablet.

They can use different protocols like Bluetooth LE, ZigBee, Z-wave or Wi-Fi to communicate with a gateway.
The gateway can support these radio protocols to communicate with the device on one end and hook into a home internet router on the other end. One such gateway or hub called "Revolv" was showcased at CES 2014.
Use of low power radio transceivers results in longer battery life for battery operated devices like smoke detectors and thermostats.

The data which is captured by these devices is uploaded to cloud.
The cloud hides Z-Wave, ZigBee, Wi-Fi and the other protocols from the user application.
Any product using any of these protocols can be controlled on the same smartphone; thus in turn makes heterogeneous home networks a reality.
Each of these devices can be uniquely identified on the cloud.

A smart phone app or web application can access this device data as well as send a command to any of these devices.
Appliances like washing machine, refrigerator, microwaves, air-conditioners, etc.
as well as simple devices like light bulbs can thus be monitored and controlled. This can result in better home and energy management.

This is just the glimpse of Internet of Things in the field of personal and home usage.

IoT products can be used to create a home monitoring system for children and elderly people. Doctor can monitor patients at their homes thereby reducing hospitalization costs. There are endless possible applications of IoT which can improve our lives and help us manage ourselves and our houses more effectively.
